A number of boys (in breach of the law) publicly broadcast a sex video to shame one actor in the video- the woman who engaged in consensual sex with a man who MAY have recorded her without her knowledge. Shall we name, shame and prosecute these psychopaths whose place is not a higer learning & thinking institution! #punishrevengepornShall we not trivialize the serious gender issue ingrained in this patriarchal society. Sex videos emerging from Ghana's universities is nothing new. The victims almost always are women.
This is what we do to our women, the custodians of our society!
Sex is a shameful act for a woman, it's a gift from a woman to a man, her loss, a burden, the depreciation of her honour and the opposite for our dear men.
Look at how we have operationally defined and use certain words like prostitute or gold digger to refer to who? WOMEN! ...We seem to forget that women make and keep the society, of course with support from some great men.
I recently saw a post by a man or maybe a boy mocking women who appeared to have bad facial skin from old age or whatever for using make up, calling it a deceit. Make up can be washed off, clothes can be taken off, prosthesis can be removed etc. Sadly a number of women joined in the ridicule and abuse of their fellow women.
#supportafellowwoman #supportawoman we need to stand up against such abuses and control of women, especially women who condemn fellow women. Yes, this society has brought us up to make men liberal and women perfect dolls. Women have for years raised their sons and daughters this way. We have made it a burden to have breasts and vaginas. We shame women for engaging in sex, blame women for rape, women alone are prostitutes, bla bla bla. And oh we (women) gladly manifest in our daily interactions that "women are their own enemies". Such balderdash!!! #ironic Dear women let's reconsider and perhaps change how we bring up our children, especially our sons to respect the women who bore them into this world, feed them, clothe them and the women who will share sex with them, have babies with them and keep their homes with them. Shall we empower girls to become phenomenal confident women! #supportafellowwoman #supportawoman
How can we hate those whose contribution to the existence of the world is so essential? #marchagainstmisogyny #GHwomenspeakout
I am a sad and angry woman in Ghana. Some men may have no clue what it is like to grow up as a woman in Ghana and say ei here goes the usual gender rhetoric. It may be worse elsewhere. But trust me it is no joke walking along hostels and halls for male students on the campus of university of Ghana, legon and be villified and harassed by faceless cowards in these hostels just because you have a vagina and breasts. Or walking through the streets of Accra central and having men make catcalls at you when you only went there for a purpose of shopping, but never mind that you are a walking vagina to satisfy his urges.
Oh and when you speak out as a woman, "your matter hard", you are arrogant etc. I know right! This is Ghana and we'd rather suffer in pain.
Shall we respect, honour and love our women (mothers, sisters, wives, nieces etc.) and this goes for women too. Love a fellow woman! It is in society's interest for women to live happy fruitful lives. A happy woman= a happy man and a society man.
Thank you for sparing a moment to read. #kaykasa
