Endure hardship as discipline

I really wish i had read Hebrews 12:7 last year or even earlier, then i would have been prepared for the trials that came my way.The Bible says, "Endure hardship as discipline, God is treating you like sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father." What happened during those difficult times is really not important but rather the lessons learned.
A well  known Ghanaian preacher man recently said that the world is hostile and no wonder babies cry when they enter it. Life they say is not a bed of roses, how little we devote much thought into such sayings as this. For the most part of our lives they become cliches we use in our daily interactions and public speeches. I would say, that life is like a sinking ship. It does not matter which part of the ship you hold on firmly to, because the whole ship will eventually sink. Sometimes it is easier to just give up because you jump one bridge only to meet another , this time bigger.
But an interesting thing we have all mulled over is what life would be without the stumbling blocks. For me life would be without character and so will we. Imagine if you sail through school without any difficulty, get an average job that demands nothing out of you, have a family that is not dysfunctional like everyone's. We would be empty beings just occupying space. Bottom line is that we would be stuck.
Character building is essential for our individual development.
Endure Hardship as discipline. Discipline according to some dictionaries is training which produces character and so when we  undergo harsh times as a training, our experience make us become better than we were before. This is the only way we can understand and confront the troubles we face. Otherwise they will only be an invisible load that nobody else can see on our shoulders but us (and that is why we feel the weight).
Life gives us the opportunity to learn something new and great through problems. There cannot be a bright morning without a dark night.

  1. hmm...its wonderful to start my day like this. Your words are touching and motivational. Thrills, tribulations, temptations, huddles, stumbling blocks, difficulties, heartaches, heartbreaks...call it whatever...are indeed the spices of life. Just like spices, they are not made to be eaten in their raw state, it is the addition of them in the right proportions that make our meals sweet and tasty.

When a christian goes through these things, it seems to them as though they have been forsaken by God but they forget that at the end, after persevering and overcoming, they become stronger, wiser and more equipped. Their stories become more interesting and an inspiration to many. When its all done, they find something to smile or laugh about...but if only they knew the gains from the 'unpleasant' experiences, they would, with an open mind and a spirit of persistence and absolute faith in God, go through their trials and tribulations, knowing that the end will always be better than the beginning!

Indeed the END of a matter is always more important the BEGINNING. Your start may be slow, bumpy and seemingly insignificant, but your end will be direct OPPOSITE!

Have a goal and press on towards it with passion, focus, determination and persistence. Your labour will not be in VAIN! OUR GOD TRULY CARES!

WORLD THINKING DAY: PUT ON YOUR THINKING CAP!

Did you know World thinking day was observed across the world yesterday? Well of course, not everyone would know about it but that doesn’t downplay its significance. This day is especially celebrated annually on February 22 by all Girl Guides and Girl Scouts. So for a developing nation like Ghana what does this day mean to us? I sampled some interesting views from the streets. While some opined that as Ghanaians we were thinking others disagreed. The former group speaks out about the problem being implementation and not the lack of creative ideas from critical thinking. For the latter we cannot be thinking if we are plighted as a nation with the most fundamental problems. They argue we are still struggling with our basic needs. Here are some more interesting opinions I gathered; “we must think outside the box and/or try finishing our thinking within the box, avoid thinking about trivialities and confusing worrying for thinking”. So are you thinking? Is Ghana a thinking nation? Renowne...

“Make your netWORK your net WORTH”

A great man once said smart entrepreneurs make their network their net worth. This means beyond regular income sources you can make money directly or indirectly from the people you meet at social gatherings. It’s not all about having a good chat, good laugh or nibbling on finger foods with some cocktail. You don’t just get to meet prospective clients but people who may have or will direct you to solutions to help grow your business. Business support organization TechnoServe has over the years been offering training and solutions to start ups and growing businesses. At a recent networking event a resource person provided by Technoserve gave this advice. “When you attend a networking soiree or cocktail, walk up to somebody or a group and strike up a conversation.” Tell them about what you do, how you do it etc. Technoserve believes limiting interactions with people already within your circles is disadvantageous to any business. ENGEN is a business plan competition run by Techno...
